This is the highest mountain in Africa that is found in the northeastern part of Tanzania near the Kenyan Border, south of the equator. This extinct volcano stands at 5,895 Meters (19,335.6 ft) above sea level; the highest peak is called Uhuru. AT 15,000 feet above sea level, snow and rock colonize the mountain. The mountain offers a fascinating climbing experience. It was first climbed in 1889.The vegetation here is composed of scrublands thick with African wildlife and flowering alpine tundra.

However Mid March to mid June are considered to be risky and dangerous times to climb because of rainfall, heavy clouds at low altitude and chances of snow.
